Open Question: What should I feed my Guinea Pigs daily?
I have read so many different articles about feeding Guinea Pigs but I do seem to get conflicting information. My Guinea Pigs are 7 weeks old and I am trying to give them a balanced diet FYI I have had them a week now. I give mine Timothy hay every day (try to keep it topped up) plus fresh water and I also give them a bowl of Gerty Guinea Pig Food twice a day (morning & evening). I also give them each a slice of red and green bell pepper once a day but I'm sure there's other veggies I should be giving them. Also they tend to leave a bits of the Gerty food as they're quite selective about what they eat. I do try to let them run the bowl down before topping it up but this doesn't quite happen so end up topping it up with food still left in the bottom. If someone could give me a good daily plan of food for them and the quantities I would really appreciate it. As they are young I want to make sure they are getting all the nutrients they need and don't want to feed them the wrong things like fruit and too much of one type of veg which could lead to other problems. My puppy Dodge is only 9 1/2 months old and weighs a heavy 64lbs. He hobbles everywhere because his legs hurt him, mainly his front left(havent had problems with his back ones...thankfully). I just tried to take him for a walk and it was a struggle to get him back to the house. Ive been to the vet and she just basically said that as a puppy he might of strained something or hes growing so fast his bones cant keep up. She didnt really give much help but she gave me an anti-imflammitory called Deramaxx and ive been splitting them in half to make 50mg. She only gave me 6 and i dont give them to him everyday only the days where he seems to be limping around more. Are there any really good joint supplements out there that could maybe help my puppy? he gets fed Exclusive large breed puppy food but i think he needs something to help his bones grow strong AND something to help his joints not ache so much....is there anything that will REALLY work? id love for Dodge to get out more and see the world! Wanting to lose the excess lb, up to now I've found it nearly impossible to lose weight. I'm age 28, 5'11 14.3 st and 22.5% bf, I'm looking to get down to around 12% if I can, I'm extremely dedicated and have six days a week that I'm available to train for up to two hours but just need some decent advice on a routine and diet. I'm currently doing 3 days of 30 min run keeping the hr at 180, followed by 1hr out on the mountain bike at 130-140 bpm hr. Then the other three days I'm doing an all body workout of pull ups 3x 8 reps, 3x8 reps ez bar curls, 3x8 reps bench press, press ups 3x15 reps, dips on bar 3x15, Tricep push downs 3x8 reps, 3x8 seated military press with barbell, 3x8 rep close grip pull up with barbell and 3xreps as many as possible sit-ups on medicine ball. After that I will go out on the bike again for an hour. I am doing it to not just saying it, but as dont know if I'm doing is right?. I'm not a person who likes lifting heavy weights in a gym and prefers to be out and about or doing training such as circuits etc. I've cut out the beer (which I think has been by biggest let down) and all the junk food. I am the oldest of three children and moved back home last year due to medical problems. I have decided I am defiantly going to get a puppy. This will be my first puppy so I’m quite excited about it. I have found a breeder who has some puppies in the breed I want. I went to see her yesterday and they have agreed to sell me one of the puppies. I’m going to pick it up next week. I have dog proofed my house removing anything that could be chewed, or that could be dangerous to the dog. I have bought a dog bed, a crate, food bowls, a lead and a couple of chew toys ( I haven’t bought a collar yet but will get one once I have the dog so I can get one that fits). I havent bought any food yet, as i want to check what the breeder is feeding them now so i can get the same food. I have set up an area in the kitchen where the dog can sleep. I have made an appointment with the vet. I have bought a couple of books about the breed and about training. I have taken the next week and a half off work so I can be with the puppy as it settles in. When I go back to work my neighbour who also owns a dog has said that she will take it out for a walk during the day. I'm thirteen and I love writing. Whenever I can, about whatever I think of. Most often, though, I never carry through with my ideas, and they sit on my computer screen for a day and then get saved to some lonely folder that never gets opened again. Recently, I've been working on a plot which I think I could actually follow through with, and I would like some other opinions on the general idea. Here goes :) Jesse is a teenage boy, whose sister was the victim of a drunk's car crash and is now in hospital and can't move from her bed. The story begins with Jesse arriving at his friend, Chris' house by the beach to get away from the stress of the accident and the panic of the city. Chris and his girlfriend Lily convince Jesse to come with them on their dinghy to an island, where they will stay overnight. Since, after his sister's accident, Jesse doesn't drink alcohol, he is soon the only one awake after his friends pass out from too much to drink. Sitting round the campfire with only his thoughts, he hears rustling in the trees behind him and comes across a girl, who doesn't speak to him, but simply laughs when he asks her whether she is lost and needs to ride home on the boat. She soon runs off, and Jesse is intrigued. The three main focuses from there onwards are: 1. Jesse's sister's condition - he receives a call from her, and finds out that she will never be able to see again, he is very distressed, as he is quite close to her and can't bear anything happening to her. 2. The mysterious, unnamed girl on the island, (who Jesse brings food, clothes and blankets for the winter) leads a lonely life and, without realising it herself, is helping Jesse cope with his situation and provides a distraction and 3. Chris' house, the Gianelli household, where Jesse is staying for the three weeks he is on holiday, with Chris, his girlfriend Lily, and his wacky Italian mother, Rosa. Jesse sneaks out on the boat many times to see the island girl, and keeps his visits a secret from Chris, who, later in the storyline, becomes suspicious and follows Jesse to the island. He meets the girl and is at first angry that Jesse didn't trust him, but cools down after an explanation. At this point, the girl accidentally reveals that she is blind. Jesse is shocked that he hadn't noticed this before, and begs her to come with him to the hospital in the city to help his blind sister get used to her new disability. Jesse, Chris, Lily and the unnamed blind girl head off to the city hospital, and while she is well looked after at first, the girl is soon forgotten about when Jesse gets caught up with caring for his sister. The girl leaves the hospital without telling anyone, and there is a panic - Jesse, Chris and Lily race around the city with a picture of her, asking anyone if they had seen her. After a few directions, they hear that she was trapped in the middle of the road and had a panic attack, and was taken by a passing doctor. At the doctor's practice, Jesse finds the girl with an oxygen mask, and the doctor is examining her eyes. He mentions something about her irises, and then asks the girl her name. She tells him Iris (in greek this means rainbow, and there are lots of references to colour in the story, and also its a part of the eye, and, well, she's blind). The doctor warns Jesse that because the girl's lungs are so clean and pure, she can't stay in the city - the fumes are killing her and making it difficult to breathe. After a teary, hasty goodbye to his sister, Jesse, Iris, Chris and Lily leave the hospital and head back to the coast. For the last few days of his stay with Chris, Jesse stays with Iris on the island, and then when it comes time for him to leave, he tells her he will come back one day and he sails off into the sunset. The End. Also, throughout the story, Iris makes meaningful statements, such as that sometimes, to see the world clearly, you have to close your eyes. Lots of others like that. I'm really sorry that was so long, but I really would like some feedback on this. Gosh, this was almost long enough for an afterword. Please note that Lily and Rosa aren't useless characters at all, they do play a fairly big role in the story, that I haven't included here. Thanks to everyone who bothered to read this! Please don't steal my idea. I WILL kill you. :) To Nomi, I'm not sure why you asked that, but I haven't thought that far ahead yet. But it quickly became clear that his abuse, not his cookery or his passion, was tastiest to the mob, so Ramsay made it the signature dish of Hell's Kitchen - a series I found too thuggish to watch, but which made him a star in the US. And Channel 9 lasciviously screened it all - every screaming Ramsay tirade against some fumbling kid, diner, cook or housewife who'd dare to take their dreams of chefdom on to his set. Not once did Nine complain. Abuse meant ratings, after all. But now Ramsay has abused not some kitchen nuff-nuff, but Nine's own Tracy Grimshaw - and done so just weeks after she won praise and viewers for so comprehensively damning Johns. Once again, Ramsay could hardly be blamed for not seeing the line he'd crossed. Was there even one? After all, Grimshaw had just had him on her show, hoping to profit yet again from his viewer-drawing foul mouth. So delighted was she with his efforts after their flirtatious banter that she even included - for ratings points - Ramsay's jeering at a mole on her face: "Is that a wart? It looks like your little sister's on your lip." Ramsay actually said that after their recorded interview was over, but before the cameras were turned off. Yet Channel 9 wanted so badly to use it that it put to air what it now condemns. How often the media feeds on what it then claims in mock-horror is foul. Little wonder that Ramsay the next day gave his food show audience more of the very same, with extra sauce. Grimshaw, he haw-hawed, was ugly, wide and cold inside. Joking about swine flu, he flashed up pictures of Miss Piggy and a woman on all fours with the teats of a sow, and snickered that they were of the Current Affair host. It was boorish, brainless and without even the slightest excuse of "context". Yet on the video I've seen of Ramsay's presentation I could hear the audience laugh and laugh again. They were getting exactly the shock show they'd paid for. Ooh, that wicked Gordon. But there were also gasps and groans from a few - although mostly at Ramsay's even fouler mockery of Susan Boyle, the Britain's Got Talent singer and a much weaker target for a bully. Even then, however, Ramsay might have felt he'd get away with it. AFTER all, his tirade was all over almost every newspaper and TV news bulletin, guaranteeing him yet more eyeballs for his next show. Even Nine responded by offering him yet more of what keeps his show on the road, reportedly asking him back on A Current Affair to confront the hurt Grimshaw. For Ramsay, it seemed so much like just another day in the kitchen that he couldn't believe this time he'd gone too far: "I find it hard to believe that anyone was offended . . . I never thought of anyone in Australia having to be wrapped up in cotton wool." I am 7 (!) weeks pregnant after over 2 years of TTC, 2 miscarriages, 2 iui procedures, clomid, hcg trigger and now progesterone suppositories... Needless to say, it has been quite a journey for someone who is only 27. Of course, I have an amazing RE and OB who are watching me like a hawk, am reading and rereading all the books, websites and magazines but feel that real life advice from mommies who have been there is the best. Thank goodness I have a super supportive mom and mother-in-law and girlfriends but no one has been through anything like I have... So I am looking to you here... I have been getting an ultrasound a week and have seen my little bean and his/her heartbeat twice so far... The RE is so confident and has told me not to worry but I am finding myself waiting for the worst to happen!!! It is not good for me or the baby, I know, but I cannot help it... So this I've been hanging out with found out that I'm attending his ex's bday party. His ex is my bestfriend's bestfriend. So i figured since he never asked me out or asked me to be his gf he wouldn't have a problem.
