Resolved Question: What is going to happen when armageddon comes? If you are not religious views not wanted?

There was a documentary on the tv telling us about what is possible going to happen when Armageddon comes, i am a christian and believe in armageddon . It is believed that the devil, will get an anti christ and he will appear as a political figure, he will be someone who we all believe to be a guy who is saying we need world peace and will get power in whatever country, I do not know who and satan will also get a religious leader (false prophet) who many believe will be the pope of today, to support the anti christ when this political figure appears many believe, that we the human race will than have seven years of suffering we will have a massive earthquake never ever experienced before because of these two evil bastards. I believe Jesus said in the scripture that when the end is near we will have earthquakes etc I could go go on forever but going to try and stop.It is also believed there will be a battle in Megiddo which is in modern day Israel and if you know about megiddo you know it will be the perfect place for a battle the land is flat tanks, big guns will all be able to move easily, the anti Christ could be anyone even Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It will be anyone who emerged into politics with support of the world and many people he fooled us into thinking he believes in world peace and things like that i really think for some reason it is the Iranian president for some reason the seven years will be world war and to be honest it looks like with Iran's defiance to stop there nuclear programme that the USA will grant war on Iran and that will be the start of the seven years of suffering if it was to start in are lifetime because prophets like Nostradamus predict that there will be a world war, which will signify the end of the world and Muslims Christians and Jews all have a similar book, to the book of revelations there a shorter version enter Armageddon on wikipedia.org and look at christianity and it will show you the countries which will probably be anti christ followers it said's the northern federation of Russia will be anti Christ and some parts of Turkey East, Africa etc, allot more and the King of Mongols will return which consist of modern day Iran, Iraq. Pakistan. I really could go on forever but I am not going to.I want to know what is other peoples opinions and what you think but in the end in all religious scriptures good triumphs over evil and all good humans will live in eternal peace, I a place beyond me and your imagination.PS it is believed America United Kingdom will fight on the side of God and whilst Satan's army will have guns and modern equipment, Jesus will have the scripture of God and will defeat them it will be so bad there will be a stream of God and the angels will invite the vultures to come and eat the remains, but this will not be the end Satan will be sent into exile for 1000 years during that time Jesus will rule the world with peace and stability than Satan would not of gone weaker and when he escapes he will be finally judged by God and when that happen the human species is ready to be judged every human being who has ever lived and the book of deeds will be there of all the sins we have committed and we will be judged. i really could go on forever but i would like to know other peoples opinions on what they feel will happen at Armageddon and how it will happen. Voting Question: The real purpose of the Party in "1984"?

i need help with a essay just to give me an idea on how to construct and what lil detail to put in the essay ok the question go like this: Read the following passage from 1984.In this passage,Winston is reading a secret book by the so call Emmanuel Goldstein. After reading the following excerpt, DECIPHER THE REAL PURPOSE OF THE PARTY.Be sure to focus onb the diction, syntax and other major elements to help construct your answer. War is Peace George Orwell " The splitting up of the world into three great super-states was an event which could be and indeed was foreseen before the middle of the twentieth century. With the absorption of Europe by Russia and of the British Empire by the United States, two of the three existing powers, Eurasia and Oceania, were already effectively in being. The third, Eastasia, only emerged as a distinct unit after another decade of confused fighting. The frontiers between the three super-states are in some places arbitrary, and in others they fluctuate according to the fortunes of war, but in general they follow geographical lines. Eurasia comprises the whole of the northern part of the European and Asiatic land-mass, from Portugal to the Bering Strait. Oceania comprises the Americas, the Atlantic islands including the British Isles, Australasia, and the southern portion of Africa. Eastasia, smaller than the others and with a less definite western frontier, comprises China and the countries to the south of it, the Japanese islands and a large but fluctuating portion of Manchuria, Mongolia, and Tibet. In one combination or another, these three super-states are permanently at war, and have been so for the past twenty-five years. War, however, is no longer the desperate, annihilating struggle that it was in the early decades of the twentieth century. It is a warfare of limited aims between combatants who are unable to destroy one another, have no material cause for fighting and are not divided by any genuine ideological difference. This is not to say that either the conduct of war, or the prevailing attitude towards it, has become less bloodthirsty or more chivalrous. On the contrary, war hysteria is continuous and universal in all countries, and such acts as raping, looting, the slaughter of children, the reduction of whole populations to slavery, and reprisals against prisoners which extend even to boiling and burying alive, are looked upon as normal, and, when they are committed by one's own side and not by the enemy, meritorious. But in a physical sense war involves very small numbers of people, mostly highly-trained specialists, and causes comparatively few casualties. The fighting, when there is any, takes place on the vague frontiers whose whereabouts the average man can only guess at ...The primary aim of modern warfare (in accordance with the principles of doublethink, this aim is simultaneously recognized and not recognized by the directing brains of the Inner Party) is to use up the products of the machine without raising the general standard of living...But when war becomes literally continuous, it also ceases to be dangerous... Those whose attitude towards the war is most nearly rational are the subject peoples of the disputed territories. To these people the war is simply a continuous calamity which sweeps to and fro over their bodies like a tidal wave. Which side is winning is a matter of complete indifference to them. They are aware that a change of overlordship means simply that they will be doing the same work as before for new masters who treat them in the same manner as the old ones. The slightly more favoured workers whom we call 'the proles' are only intermittently conscious of the war. When it is necessary they can be prodded into frenzies of fear and hatred, but when left to themselves they are capable of forgetting for long periods that the war is happening. Even the names of the four Ministries by which we are governed exhibit a sort of impudence in their deliberate reversal of the facts. The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and the Ministry of Plenty with starvation. These contradictions are not accidental, nor do they result from ordinary hypocrisy; they are deliberate exercises in doublethink. For it is only by reconciling contradictions that power can be retained indefinitely. In no other way could the ancient cycle be broken. If human equality is to be for ever averted - if the High, as we have called them, are to keep their places permanently - then the prevailing mental condition must be controlled insanity. THe focusing on major elements is giving me trouble. Please give me some pinpointers on this essay. Please and Thank YOU!! <3  more

Resolved Question: Why sub-saharan African - American get offended when called Negroes?

Negr0 (I am writing it down like this because answers.yahoo sucks enough to put asterisks on it) is the scientific to describe the so-called black race (Negric race or Negroid race). It constitutes approximately all the autochthonous peoples of the sub-saharan Africa. The scientific word to describe the so called white race for instance is "Caucasian" and no white gets offended when called a Caucasian. In many countries of the world the word Negr0 is not an offensive term, nor a pejorative one, however it seems that in America it is. Don't you think that the pejorative denotation that is given to terms describing the black race underestimates the race itself? Even black is frown upon nowadays in America, and African American is used instead of the first. However African is not an attributive term because Northern African Arabs are also Africans but not Negroes...  more

Resolved Question: Confusion! The answer to this question,How do Spaniards look different from Latinos? once and for all!?

Look I am a spaniard...and many people have given their opinions..I have read them all. A few people have made some sense, but what makes no sense is the white person/anglo that is american that may have some spanish lineage..that talks about our culture that they know nothing about. We truly are NOT WHITE..we are caucasian..but we are not classified as white..so get your info straight. Here is the truth facts and so on. For those of you that are haters..im educated, univeristy, medical and science background..and can speak and read english. Spaniards are a mixed people! Originally we were Iberians...(hence the Iberian Peninsula) that native group was thought to have been originally from North Africa. We were later invaded by Celts..hence the Celt/Iberian name. Same group that went into the British Isles..and this is why in the spanish region of Galicia. This is the misty area filled with tales and craft and woven lace and bagpipes. The people are also fair complexion and some light eyes and a celtic mixed look. Then the Romans invaded us , the Germanic Tribes, The Carthaginians, The Phoenicians, Greeks, Jews, gypsies(but pretty much kept to themselves) Arabs, Berbers(North Africa) Moors mixed from North Africa...That is what makes a Spaniard..once and for all! There are light spaniards..yes but if you visit our country you will find the majority of us are brunettes..from black hair to brown..from black eyes to blue and green. Our skin tone is not normally pale and white , unless of course there has been much addmix in our dna genes with Northern Europeans. We tend to be light tan /olive complexion to brown. So once and for all we have North African Arab mixed with Celtic, Roman ,German, Gypsy, Greek, Carthaginian, Phonenician( Lebanon),Jewish, Moorish, Berber all mixed. In some instances we also have IN SPAIN an add mix of native american from the people (conquistadors) that brought their wives back. This will show up in our DNA. Ther are also some instances of a Mongol mix/ asian as well..probably from centuries upon centuries ago. The GYPSY (gitano) dna and haplogroups are many times the same as you will find from India. The gitanos actually migrated from India over 500 years ago. I hope this helps...and yes spanish people are latinos and we are hispanos in the truest form! Resolved Question: What country in Africa do the most beautiful people come from?

Of course, I would say Eritrea and Ethiopia have the most beautiful people but that's because I'm from there. I think that people from Somalia and Mauritania are the most beautiful people from Africa. And people from the northern part of Sudan.  more

Resolved Question: Where in Northern Africa or Southern Europe should I start my ROADTRIP?

I will start backpacking in a little over a year and a half and want to go to Africa. I have traveled extensively all over the world. I will be 18 and will want to start out in a more developed(so I can get a foundation) area of either southern europe, or northern Africa. I know areas in Europe where I would start and I want some suggestions of good starting base countries in northern Africa that would be good. I am doing the real deal and will spend at least a year(in a row) on the road so I don't want to be necessarily pampered but I want it to be decent enough that I don't start off in water to deep.I want the place to be a place where I can meet other travelers, party, meet people, and have it be a base to venture out to Africa, Asia, and throughout Europe. Any ideas on cities or countries? Any ideas in general?  more

Resolved Question: What is the problem of Northern Nigeria? Is it Islam? Is it Christianity?

Nigeria is the biggest black nation. It is socially divided into two--North and South. The North is predominantly Muslims while the South is dominated by Christians. I have been to Nigeria four times. So I know somewhat of it. The Northern Nigeria has been suffering religious wars. Muslims are always fighting one another. There was Sheikh Maitasiny riot in which Muslims killed thousands of themselves and some Christians in the city of Kano. There was 'Kala-kato' involving some terrible Muslim sects which resulted in the death of many Muslims themselves and some innocent Christians. In the Sokwotu Caliphate, there has been killings and counter killings between Muslims in recent times. The Muslims' internal rivalries have consumed some prominent Islamic preachers in the North of the country. Recently in an influential Northern city of Zaraa in Kaduna State, Muslims killed one another for several days. The Christians too have on many occasions been massacred by the Muslims for no fault of theirs. You can hardly hear any religious crisis in the Christian dominated South. A friend who still does business in Nigeria called to tell me that investors (both Christians and Muslims) have avoided Northern Nigeria. On the other hand, the Southern part is becoming an industrial heven of Western Africa. My friend told me that Islam has almost killed Northern Nigeria in terms of education, health, security and many other things that bring about development. But like me, the friend is a Christian (Years back he was a Muslim though. But I am older in Christianity), he might not be obsolutely fair to the Muslims. Pls what do you believe is the problem of Northern Nigeria?  more

Resolved Question: Were the Christians, Jews, and Muslims all given religious autonomy while living under the OttomanEmp?

If so, which region of the Middle East did the Ottoman allow the Christians, Jews, and Muslims to practice religion freely? Was it in the Northern Shores of Africa? The Levant region? etc. Also, Lebanon received its governmental framework from the French. The French implemented a confessional system in Lebanon. Why did the French implement this type of system and not another? What other countries have a similar political system like Lebanon?  more

Resolved Question: Can someone tell me how many conflicts are mentioned in this article?

International From Nuremberg to Baghdad The fate of war criminals from Hitler to Saddam Hussein. Legal proceedings can take as long as 17 years to complete. NOT all war criminals can be brought to trial. Hitler chose to commit suicide. Stalin and Mao Zedong died peacefully in their sleep. Pol Pot, the mastermind behind the slaughter of 3 million Cambodians in the 1970s, lived comfortably up until his death. Idi Amin, the brutal Ugandan dictator, lived out his final days in peace in Saudi Arabia. While Mengistu Haile Mariam from Ethiopia lives quietly in Zimbabwe. These days however, human rights criminals can no longer expect to escape indictment. The international community is becoming firmer asserting that there will be no more impunity for perpetrators of human rights violations. Heads of state are also not exempt. The former President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein, has been sentenced to death by the Iraqi Special Court. Saddam was indicted on two charges: genocide and crimes against humanity. In an earlier case, in 1999 Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic was indicted for war crimes. He died before a sentence was handed down. In Chile, after Augusto Pinochet stepped down after 17 years in power, court hearings against him were opened. Hissène Habré, the ruthless former President of Chad who had been in exile in Senegal for 16 years, was extradited to Brussels to face trial for crimes against humanity under the Belgium Universal Jurisdiction Law. Wojciech Jaruzelski, the last communist leader of Poland, is awaiting a verdict from the country’s state court. Indeed, out of all of the war crimes trials that have taken place, the first and most important were the Nuremberg Trials in Germany. It was there that the Nazi leaders involved in war crimes during World War II and the holocaust were tried. The court was formed based on the London Charter in August 1945 after a series of negotiations between the US, Britain, the Soviet Union and France. The judges came from all four countries. Between 1945 and 1949 there were around 200 people indicted by the Justice Palace of Nuremberg while some 1,600 others were indicted through ordinary military courts. The charges were diverse—from “merely” providing the idea, to planning, conspiring or direct involvement in crimes against humanity over the period that the war raged. The verdicts were not uniform. There were those sentenced to death while others were imprisoned for 10 years to life. Some were also released such as Hanz Fritzsche, the former head of the News Division in the Nazi Department of Propaganda. Following this in 1993, the International Criminal Tribunal for ex-Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands, became the first “modern” war crimes court after the World War II war crimes trials in Nuremberg and Tokyo. The leaders of the Serbian Republican Army—the former state of Yugoslavia—were charged with slaughtering thousands of Muslims in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1991. Those who were awarded the death penalty included Milan Babiæ. The former Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbian Krajina was sentenced to 13 years jail on charges of ethnic cleansing although he committed suicide in his cell in The Hague before serving out his sentence. Other prisoners like Vidoje Blagojevic and Dragan Jokic were sentenced to 18 and 9 years imprisonment, respectively. While Radislav Krstic, the chief of the Bosnian Serb Army was given the harsher sentence of 35 years for his involvement in the Srebrenica genocide, a crime against humanity and a violation of international law. The Hague was the first permanent war crimes court and also the first not to involve the United Nations or meet opposition from the US. After trying former Yugoslavian officials, in October this year, The Hague issued the first charges against Joseph Kony and four members of the Lord’s Resistance Army for crimes in the northern part of Uganda. The charges were in relation to the mass slaughter in the Congo, which are said to have taken the lives of as many as 4 million people since 1998. The Hague was also given a mandate by the UN to investigate crimes against humanity in Darfur, Sudan. Five other countries that had also been swept by violence were also placed on The Hague’s supervisory list, including the Ivory Coast and the Republic of Central Africa. One year after The Hague, the UN formed the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha, Tanzania. In 1994, Hutu militia slaughtered at least 800,000 Tutsis in a conflict that broke out after former President Juvenal Habyarimana—a Hutu—was murdered. Rwanda’s current president, Paul Kagame—a Tutsi—was charged as the mastermind of the murder. The ethnic Hutu group that make up 85 percent of the population in Rwanda “took their revenge” through a mass slaughter. So widespread was the genocide and so many involved, that to date around 6,500 people have already been tried, several in mass  more

Voting Question: Are countries other than the United States and Jonathanland technologically advanced?

I used to always think that European countries are just like the United States and Jonathanland (Jonathanland is very technologically advanced, however it is very small [less than a mile]). However recently I have had a change of thought, due to people discussing how Europe is not like the United States (or any other country), when it comes to advancedness. I know that Asia, Africa, Middle East, South America, Central America, and North America (excluding the United States, and possibly Canada [possibly]) are inferior and unadvanced countries with little to no technology. I don't know if Canada is advanced or not, but since they are good allies of the United States, and they sometimes act like the United States, I suppose one may assume that they are technologically advanced like America (but I'm not sure). It is possible that the United Kingdom (and it's four sovereign states: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) are also technologically advanced, however these claims may be false. Also, New Zealand and Australia may have some technology, however these claims have also not been verified. So please tell me, are there any countries like the United States (technologically wise) out there?  more

Resolved Question: Best way to get to North Africa from Paris?

I'm in Paris now and in April I was hoping to visit Tunisia and Marocco. What is the best and cheapest way to get there? (a stop over in the south of france or south of spain would be fine) Is it convenient to take a ferry from somewhere, or is it better to fly, say, from Marseille? Also, once in Morocco, is it easy to get around by train or bus from city city? If the ferry takes you into the northern tip of the country, I'm wondering how easy it is to make your way towards Marrakech, and beyond. Any help/tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  more

Resolved Question: Tainted teething formula responsible for 84 deaths in Nigeria?

Teething medicine laced with a chemical found in antifreeze LAGOS, Nigeria - Nigerian health workers hunted down errant bottles of a poisonous teething formula Friday as the government reported that 84 infants and children have now died after swallowing a syrup laced with a chemical normally found in antifreeze. The children were stricken with fever, convulsions, diarrhea and vomiting, and were unable to urinate after being given the My Pikin Baby Teething Mixture. The dead ranged from 2 months to 7 years old, the Health Ministry said, adding that at least 111 children in all have been sickened since the tainted batch hit store shelves in mid-November. “The death of any Nigerian child is a great loss to the nation,” Health Minister Babatunde Oshotimehin said in a statement. “The federal ministry of health sincerely regrets this painful incidence and sympathizes with the nation and the families.” Health officials said in early December that 34 children had died and stores were returning stocks of the formula meant to stop teething pain. Death toll could increase But health workers were now pressing to collect already-purchased bottles of the sweet-tasting medicine, said Marshal Gundu, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health. He said parents of the affected children were being interviewed and an epidemiological survey was under way. Health officials said they don’t know how many bottles of the bad formula were made or remain in circulation, so it was not clear if the death toll could rise further. Nigeria is a vast, chaotic country of 140 million people, and bottles of the teething formula could easily go undiscovered by authorities. Nigeria also has a long history of poor enforcement of its own regulations, with corruption rampant among police and government officials. It was unclear if any of the teething formula had been shipped overseas, but most products made in Nigeria are designed for domestic sale in Africa’s largest market. Many bottles of the paracetemol-based formula were found to have a high concentration of diethylene glycol, a chemical commonly found in antifreeze and brake fluid and sometimes used illegally as a cheaper alternative to glycerin, which thickens toothpaste. Exposure can cause kidney and liver damage and may be fatal. An official with manufacturer Barewa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. apparently procured diethylene glycol from an unregistered chemical dealer in a sprawling slum near the main dump in Lagos, the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control has said. Arrests made Several officials of the Lagos-based pharmaceutical maker are under arrest, along with several other suspects accused of helping provide the poisonous ingredient. Gundu said no charges had been officially lodged against the suspects. A phone number listed for the company was not working Friday, and officials could not immediately be reached for comment. Health officials said earlier that Barewa Pharmaceuticals appears to have been told it was purchasing propylene glycol, a normal ingredient in the teething formula. They said the pharmaceutical company had always bought that ingredient through approved channels before, but had turned to a new source for the ingredient used in the tainted batch. The food and drug agency said the first sickened child was taken for treatment on Nov. 19 in Nigeria’s far northern region. Similar cases turned up in subsequent days in Nigeria’s densely populated southwest, and investigators isolated the product as the culprit.  more

Resolved Question: Is Australia the canary in the climate change coal mine?

Australia is the driest of the habitable continents. Most of the south of the country is gripped by unprecedented 12-year drought. Resolved Question: Why does the USA hold onto ancient ideas?

I mean the rest of the western/developed world is moving away from religion yet in the US it seems strong as ever. I understand countries in South America, Africa etc who still hold onto these beliefs for in a lot of these places they face great difficulties(poverty, war, disease etc)so it's their only hope a lot of the time. Now you may have seen me use this in several answers on here, but it is all fact(not atheist propaganda like some will say)......... The USA is the most religious western country and most Christian country(80% claim to be Christian)which is amusing because it has the highest crime rates, one of the lowest education rates(for western countries)and has one of the highest poverty rates(for western countries again). Also look at its wars in recent history and its intolerance to certain groups and people(gay, abortion etc). Then on the other hand you have Sweden the most atheist country(85%)and its the exact opposite. One of the best welfare systems, lowest crime rates, one of the highest educated nations in the world and is extremely tolerant(although Scandanavia does have some of the highest suicide rates which is attributed to climate/lack of light etc not religion before you start harping on). When did you last see the Swedes invading a country controversially? What does that say about religion, morals and quality of life? With the above in mind why do we need religion? Sweden, as with a lot of northern Europe, gets on fine without it and a lot of countries are moving this way. Why is the USA the only country not doing so when all the evidence goes against it? (I am in no way anti American btw) 33 lashes, are they western countries like I stated? I'll stand corrected with USA being the most religious western country. It is then easily, the most influential, fully developed country with very high belief in god. pinkstealth, 'god' hasn't stopped blessing Sweden or is that him working in mysterious ways again? JBT, I don't agree. It is quite a new idea to not believe in god, it has come through science. The welfare state is also a fairly new thing. Now as places like Sweden move away from religion, I would argue, their judgement in all areas isn't clouded by religion therefore I would argue people do the logical, decent thing without 'gods will' ie religion makes good men do bad things. In time this idea and culture would wash through everything and even governments. Tolerance of all people would grow without racial or religious stigma and just society would judge everybody equal. Are you then arguing the Swedes are just decent people and the Americans are bad? I mean if the, heavily religious, American governement thought like the Swedish government the welfare state would be far greater therefore poverty would go down, crime(and substance abuse)would go down, education would then rise as people could go to school without worrying about money, they would then be able to get decent jobs and in turn would pay back into the system. Also in GWBush used Christian quotes and phrases before the Iraq war. Wipe it out of a society and it becomes a far nicer place. My point being you do not need religion to have morals and the most moral societies are not religious. Still don't agree. Foot odour has no link to crime, morality does. What is right or wrong is everything to do morals. Many people in the US claim you need Jesus to have a decent society when the countries without Jesus have the fairest, friendliest cultures. So to me my question stands, why does the USA hold onto ancient ideas? We will have to agree to disagree :)  more

Resolved Question: what do you think of my short biography essay.?

Sudan is where I’m from Sudan is where I was born and raise during my childhood until I was 11. It is a great country and also one of the biggest country in the nation of Africa. Sudan has many ancient historical and is also known for its huge long Nile River and the big red sea, However, Sudan has a lot of corruption, problems and issues that needed to be fixed because Sudan is mostly like a communist country and dictator country which run by the northern government. Many of Sudan crisis is the most comment one such as the crisis in Darfur which created because the people there don’t get a long due the fact that the Country is divided into two; the North and the South. The North which controlled by Arabs and the South which controlled by all kind of Tribes and villagers dark skin people. The north and the south had been in fight for over decades and that fight does not seem to come to an end and millions of people of Sudanese are dying to the this fight and inconsistency of differences. The United Nation (UN) estimated over 200,000 people of Sudan die every day which is sad. That why my family and I flee Sudan in 1998 and went to Syria to persuade a better life, freedom and opportunity. Syria is one of the greatest and beautiful countries in the Middle East with a lot of ancient historical. My family and I had lived in Syria for 5 years and then we were immigrant to USA in 2003 and I like my new life and the opportunity that this great country offers. I plan on continuing my education and get a Master Degree in Engineering and go back to Sudan when my country is fixed and all the problems has been solve and when there is no more fight and wars.  more

Resolved Question: Which parts of the statements below are true? Please note that I just want to hear another perspective but..?

.. I want you to know from the getgo that nothing you answer will make me change my mind about what I have written below. So: African American = A Black person from the United States with roots that are traceable to any region or country in Africa south of the Sahara. African = A Black person from Africa. Note though that not all Africans are Black but this categorisation often depends on the agenda. Northern Africans become Middle eastern if we are discussing matters that put stress on race and achievements. Egyptians regardless of skin tone will always be something else other than Black (lets say Berber, half-caste etc. etc.) mainly because of the country's history, achievements and for biblical reasons. When race is stressed Africa will be broken down into Nothern Africa and "Africa south of the Sahara" or "Sub Saharan Africa". A Black person from the United States is "Black". Their skin tone can range from light brown to Black. A Black person from Africa is "Black". Their skin tone can very often range from Blackish in colour to light brown.  more

Resolved Question: Were the Crusades good or bad?

I ask ths question, because,to my surprise,I have seen here quite a lot of posts which call the Crusades "the terrorist attack".It´s true that th authors of these posts are mainly Muslims, but Christians are for some reason silent. Let´s recall history. In the 7th century,Muslims started the expansion against Christians under the banner of Islam. They conquered many Christian countries in the Middle East:Syria(yes,Syria in the 7th century was a totally Christian country, with a Jewish minority),Egypt(the same story),Palestine(in the 7th century Palestine was mainly Christian, and alsmot 50% ere Jews, and there were no Muslims in Palestine for very simple reason;Islam appeared only 5 years before Muslims attacked Palestine),Northern Africa...Then,in 712,Muslims invaded and occupied Spain, and after that, they tried to conquer Franks-but were stopped and defeated at Poitier by Charles Martell in 732. Only AFTER that, the Christians understood the danger of Islamic expansion-and started to create units to fight it. Gradually, the Church started to play the leading role in the organized resistance to the islamic expansion, and then the Crusades started. So,the Crusades were the reaction of Christianity to the Islamic expansion ,let´s call it Moonade(the symbol of Islam is the Crescent Moon). Islam attacked-and the Chrstianity defended. Muslims,of course, can scream that it was "a terrorism".But what was the previous Islamic expansion against the Christian countries, then? Ah,I am so sorry, how could I forget that Islam never attack anyone... Of course,it was "a liberation". to Velcity: "How **** are you connecting the Crusades to make Islam look bad?" Islam has committed SUCH thigs that it does not need my modesthelp to look bad. "I bet if a Christian blew up something you'd look for links with Islam". But they don´t.And I have never heard of the Jews "blowing up something", either. And you? "It was WRONG". I was wrong because the Crusders killed Muslims? And when Muslims were killing Christians and Jews-it was "good"? "And they killed Jews, too. I bet now you're all sad". But te hristian Church TWICE asked hte Jews to pardon the atrocites committed by the Crusaders. When will Muslims do the same? By th way,in spite of the fact that the Crusaders killed Jews in Jerusalem, the Jews supported the Crusades. How can you explain that?Maybe it was because the life of Jews under Muslim rule was not so good as you try to paint it?  more

i live in northern ireland (technically uk) i have been considering adoption for a long time, several years infact. i was told at 17 that i couldn't have children due to a medial condition. it was then that i first started to think that one day i would adopt. two years ago i very unexpectedly became pregnant, and my little miricale baby was born. instead of putting me off, it only spurred me on. having experienced how wonderful it is to have a child in my life, and feeling blessed every day that i was given her when i had long ago become resigned to the fact that i would never have a child, i just want to give another child a home. there is so much love in our house, and if i can help make life better for just one child, give them all the love they need and deserve, that would mean everything. my daughter is two now, and i feel this is a really good time to start the process. i have already been in touch with my local health trust and i'm waiting on home assessments etc to start. i want to adopt internationally, from a country where a child is very unlikely to get a home. here in ireland ther are more adoptive parents than they are adoptive children. i don't care where a baby comes from, although i feel very drawn to russia, africa and india mainly because we have all three of these nationalities in our family and extended family already and i though it would be better to have a family member that shares the same background etc, some connection to their own cultrure etc. (i have a massive extended family, and we are all very close and supportive) but what i wanted to know was how others found the process. i'm excited but terrified. i have no idea how much this is going to cost, and i'm a little worried, but money isn't really going to put me off. has anyone in northern ireland adopted internationally? what did you do? what agency did you use? any advice to help me along or avoid pitfalls would be really appreciaed. i dont know anyone here who has done this, so it's all pretty new and scary for me. anything else i realy should know? if it's too much to post here please feel free to email me. i feel a bit overwhelmed by all of this sometimes.  more

Resolved Question: Is it true that the more your race had to struggle, the more intelligent they are?

Look at this map of the world which shows HDI or Human Development Index. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UN_Human_Development_Report_2007_(2).svg Notice how the colder countries (the countries farthest away from the Equator) are doing a lot better than countries closer to the equator. Since people of those countries further away from the Equator had to struggle harder to survive more than somebody who lived near the Equator did (They had to migrate to find food, find ways to survive the cold, constantly search for water, etc, they all had to think a lot harder than somebody who lived near the Equator to survive.) People near the Equator had animals that can be eaten, fresh water lakes, warm climates, so you don't have to think about surviving cold winter, you did not have to exercise your knowledge as much as somebody who lived in a colder region. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UN_Human_Development_Report_2007_(2).svg Look at Africa, look at how the countries of Southern Africa, and the countries of Northern Africa (both regions are furthest from the Equator as you can possibly get on the African Continent), note how those countries are doing a lot better than those in the middle in Africa (though there are a few exceptions) Most residents of South America/Central America have ancestry from other nations, so this theory doesn't apply to them. Oh, and if you disagree, please state why you disagree.....please don't just say "idiot" and give no reason why you disagree.  more

Resolved Question: How can I find out which country my Ancestors came from?

I Know they came from Africa but not sure which country, See the Story I have been told by my Grandmother is they Immigrated to Northern Maine back in the 1800's And now my family is just spread out throughout the u.s. So my question is is there a public record I could look up to see which country's came to northern maine back in the 1800's (I'm sure it's probably not very many) Or they could have original came to the u.s. from africa to a different state and move to northern maine. With the last name I pretty much narrowed it down to either east africa or S.A. Or the name could of been switched when they moved to america. Any help apprecciated. Thanks.  more

Voting Question: Please answer the two questions?

Please answer the two questions? 1. Explain why this course would be better described as a study in human geography rather than a study of physical geography? This class is more into human geography then physical geography. See look at this page of my course Having successfully completed your visit to Europe, the Committee is anxious for you to embark on your next mission--to learn about the region known as the Middle East. Countries of the world are generally grouped together geographically to form regions. This makes comparing them easier. Regions are usually defined using some common characteristics such as race and ethnicity, culture, language, religion, historical unity, climate, or some other geographic feature. However, the area known as the Middle East generally defies definition based on these terms because of the diversity found within its area. For the purpose of this mission, you will concentrate on the countries of southwest Asia and at least part, if not all of northern Africa. At a cross-roads of influences from east, north and south, the Middle East has been Influenced by many different cultures, including the ancient Sumerians, Babylonians, Egyptians, and even the Greeks and Romans. All have left their mark in the structures they built, and in other lasting legacies. Get ready to explore some of the physical and human characteristics of this important world region. 2.Imagine you are writing to a student that is just starting this course. Explain in one paragraph the importance of having geographic literacy. Please answer i have no clue about what the answer is and there both are suppossed to be three sentence each.thnx ill reword you with 10 points and ones i get to level 2 ill give you even more.  more

Resolved Question: Are only Sephardic Jews "God's Choosen People"?

I guess when looking at genes, ONLY Sephardic Jews quality as "Israelites" and that Ashkenazi Jews DON'T qualify as Israelites There was an Ashkenazi Jewish Geneticist who discovered that Ashkenazi Jews were actually decendants of the Empire of Khazaria and also partially descended from Mongolian warriors. Genetically speaking, Sephardic Jews and Palestinian Arabs are FAR more closely related to each other than are the Ashkenazi Jews, they're the odd man out so to speak. BTW, the Ashkenazi Jew who discovered all this was Dr. Arthur Koestler. BTW, he and his wife were MYSTERIOUSLY found dead in a London Hotel Room in 1983. I think there must have been a coverup as the claim it was a suicide. Anyway, here's a little bit of more info about his book. The patriarch of Haplogroup J was born around 15,000 years ago somewhere in the Fertile Crescent, a region that today includes Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. The early farming successes of the J lineages spawned population booms and encouraged migration throughout much of the Mediterranean region. Both Haplogroup J and its subgroup J2 are found at a combined frequency of around 30 percent among the Jewish population. The Cohen modal lineage is found in Haplogroup J* Today the M304 marker appears at its highest frequencies in the Middle East, North Africa and Ethiopia. In Europe M304 is seen only in the Mediterranean region." http://www.kknfa.org/haplogroups.htm#Y-Haplogroups The Thirteenth Tribe 1976 ISBN 0-394-40284-7 Arthur Koestler Free copies of the book are available many places online, one copy is located here: http://www.christusrex.org/www2/koestler/ This book traces the history of the ancient Khazar Empire, a major but almost forgotten power in Eastern Europe, which in A.D. 740 converted to Judaism. Khazaria, a conglomerate of Aryan Turkish tribes, was finally wiped out by the forces of Genghis Han, but evidence indicates that the Khazars themselves migrated to Poland and formed the craddle of Western (Ashkenazim) Jewry... The Khazars' sway extended from the Black sea to the Caspian, from the Caucasus to the Volga, and they were instrumental in stopping the Muslim onslaught against Byzantium, the eastern jaw of the gigantic pincer movement that in the West swept across northern Africa and into Spain. Thereafter the Khazars found themselves in a precarious position between the two major world powers: the Eastern Roman Empire in Byzantium and the triumphant followers of Mohammed. As Arthur Koestler points out, the Khazars were the Third World of their day, and they chose a surprising method of resisting both the Western pressure to become Christian and the Eastern to adopt Islam. Rejecting both, they converted to Judaism. The second part of Mr. Koestler's book deals with the Khazar migration to Polish and Lithuanian territories, caused by the Mongol onslaught, and their impact on the racial composition and social heritage of modern Jewry. He produces a large body of meticulously detailed research in support of a theory that sounds all the more convincing for the restraint with which it is advanced. Mr. Koestler concludes: "The evidence presented in the previous chapters adds up to a strong case in favour of those modern historians - whether Austrian, Israeli or Polish - who, independently from each other, have argued that the bulk of modern Jewry is not of Palestinian, but of Caucasian origin. The mainstream of Jewish migrations did not flow from the Mediterranean across France and Germany to the east and then back again. The stream moved in a consistently westerly direction, from the Caucasus through the Ukraine into Poland and thence into Central Europe. When that unprecedented mass settlement in Poland came into being, there were simply not enough Jews around in the west to account for it, while in the east a whole nation was on the move to new frontiers" ( page 179, page 180). "The Jews of our times fall into two main divisions: Sephardim and Ashkenazim. The Sephardim are descendants of the Jews who since antiquity had lived in Spain (in Hebrew Sepharad) until they were expelled at the end of the fifteenth century and settled in the countries bordering the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and to a lesser extent in Western Europe. They spoke a Spanish-Hebrew dialect, Ladino, and preserved their own traditions and religious rites. In the 1960s, the number of Sephardim was estimated at 500000. The Ashkenazim, at the same period, numbered about eleven million. Thus, in common parlance, Jew is practically synonymous with Ashkenazi Jew." ( page 181). In Mr. Koestler's own words, "The story of the Khazar Empire, as it slowly emerges from the past, begins to look like the most cruel hoax which history has ever perpetrated." Mr. Koestler was a Mr. Koestler was an Ashkenazi Jew and took pride in his Khazar ancestry. He was also a very talented and successful writer who published over 25 novels and essays. His most successful book, Darkness at Noon, was translated in thirty-three languages. As expected, The Thirteenth Tribe caused a stir when published in 1976, since it demolishes ancient racial and ethnic dogmas...At the height of the controversy in 1983, the lifeless bodies of Arthur Koestler and his wife were found in their London home. Despite significant inconsistencies, the police ruled their death a suicide... http://www.christusrex.org/www2/koestler/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _Human Genetics_ Volume 55, Number 3 / September, 1980 Pages 391-395 Publisher: Springer Berlin / Heidelberg Extract: Arthur G. Resolved Question: What is the best country in Northern or Western Europe for a Black American woman to live, socially?

I'm quite over the situation here in the US. I feel like as an educated black woman, I am not afforded a normal life socially as a woman (I don't think we are in the same situation as educated black men here at all), and I'd like to leave. I've lived in and traveled to several different countries and been around enough different folks to figure out that I can't deal with conservative cultures as far as gender roles and sexism is concerned even if they are slightly better as far as race is concerned (so that puts out the Caribbean and Africa) nor can I deal with the post-slavery/post-colonial context that both blacks and whites and other groups exist in here in the US i.e. the residual internalized racism and racism... so I guess that puts out Latin America too. God knows Eastern Europe is known for its racism. Also, I've heard that France, Italy, and Spain can be quite difficult at times as well. Please spare me any sermons about over-generalizations; I really don't have time for it because we all know that things that occur commonly in cultures have a real effect on a person's life. So, where should I go? Belgium, Sweden, England, Finland, Switzerland etc.? I've heard really good things about Northern Europe as far as race is concerned and they are way liberal in comparison to here in the US so I think the gender thing should be covered there too. HELP PLEASE :) Any suggestions are much appreciated :) By the way, I've already been living abroad for three years. So, I'm quite serious about this. Language won't be a major obstacle for me. I just came back this year in order to do post graduate study, and afterwards hopefully...I'm off once again :) Umm, stormfront777, I think I see where you're coming from, but I'm not trying to be an activist. I went that route and was an organizer for a while and realized that it was a stressful complicated mess. So, now I'm just thinking of my own personal happiness...just like everybody else :) By the way, Africa is just a "homeland" to my DNA. Culturally, I would be like a fish out of water there. Not that I wouldn't want to ever visit though. I just know too many Africans to be snowed about acceptance and "brotherhood" or black authenticity or anything that the stereotypes say is there for us black folk in Africa. Colonization is a b*tch and has had some real psychological and cultural results over there concerning their concept of self in relation to white people no matter what people try to make it seem like.  more
