2 months ago, I bought the Gateway® DX4200-09 PC from Best Buy. It used to work perfectly, but now I have errors with the drivers and OS. On 2/13/09, I used the Gateway Recovery Management program. I clicked Reset to Factory Default. The PC restarted, it started the operation. Then an error message occurred and I could not finish the task. I think that my PC is defective because the drivers and OS doesn't work correctly. Now everytime I turn on my PC, it gives me this error message: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the problem. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.. 2. Choose your language settings and then click "Next" 3.Click "Repair your computer" If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File:\Boot\BCD Status:0xc000000f Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data. I brought the PC to Best Buy and I wanted an exchange, but the guy says that I can't have it replaced because I have a software error. He said I could have it diagnosed and repaired for $199, but I refused. I went home and booted from my Windows Vista Home Premium disc. I clicked 'repair your computer' but it tells me that no Windows installation was found. Then I clicked on 'Load Drivers' button. I clicked on 'Computer' tab on the left side. And there are 2 hard drives instead on 1. I right-clicked the first one labeled 'C:' selected 'Properties' and it shows that there is 0B used space and 0B free space. Next I viewed the Properties of the second hard drive 'E:' it also had 0B used space and 0B free space. I know that C: was where Vista used to be installed. Then I tried to re-install Vista. While it's doing the 'Expanding Files' operation, it gives me an error message and I can't complete the installation. Now everytime I turn it on, it gives me this error message: BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and I get the same message over and over again. I don't have any recovery discs. But I read the warranty paper that came with the PC. I don't even know what a warranty is.It says that Gateway promises that their PCs are free from defects or they will replace it. User computing equipment and local servers equipment inventory (where is, who has, what does it have, etc.). I have a pretty solid resume as far as advancement and responsibilities go. I've worked for this software dev. firm for almost 2 years now. I started out in administration, then moved to HR and financing, now I'm in the QA/Software testing role. Its a very demanding position as I have been and am still currently the only tester (minus the automation tools we utilize). I've always been tech savvy, I know my way around IT troubleshooting, updating, and installing and have a knack for picking up anything tech. Its hard to relay that sort of information on a resume, though, any suggestions? In my current role, I'm basically the sole testing engineer and release manager. I use MySql and Oracle databases, utilizing queries and sql scripts, configuring configuration/xml files, building the software locally, and deploying for demonstrations and company wide testing. I feel I have a good grasp on what it takes, but really lack the years many companies are looking for, its just hard to relay the fact that I'm the sole person for this stuff, hence the quick and deep immersion into it all. I would love to learn more, but there aren't any local colleges/universities that offer more tech classes that I'd like to take. Those that do are not just rip-offs, but not the exact field I'm interested in. I would love to be a developer (not programmer) or business analyst/QA manager. Does anyone have experience in this, and if so, what would you recommend to someone in their latter 20s looking to make a profession out of it? I love to read and try things out on my own, so self-teaching is cool by me. I've recently started self-teaching on web development, am very creative and again, just love technology. A couple months ago I bought "Acronis" It is suppose to be a wonderful backup software that included a try and decide feature. When I set up the Try&Decide feature, evidently it partitioned my hard drive. I started with a FAST computer - (still faster than others but NOT like I had it and Want it back) Now It is all split up. I can not copy and paste a picture nor a spread sheet, so this is the titles with the 3 entries following. Device manager Headers- Volume - layout - type - file system - status - capacity - free space - % free - fault tolerance - overhead, Is divided into these three: Volume (C:) - partition, basic, NTFS, Healthy (System), 100.00 GB, 35.37 GB, No, 0%. So some poor hardworking American is cheated out of his job just so this fool can keep taking bribes! Food is literally taken out of the mouths of innocent people's children, and they are left jobless and without insurance... I am outraged at this, but it's so widespread. Indians who are in Project Management positions are almost all taking bribes. And they brag about it to each other, in Telugu (their particular regional language). They laugh about how all the money they earn in America goes right back to India to enrich their families there, instead of being invested here, and how they take the jobs away from the stupid "gora's" (Americans). I am married to an Indian man, so we hear everything they say. I just want to know what action I can take. I feel very helpless since our government is run by big business interest, who keeps importing cheap H1B labor for jobs that should go to middle class or upper middle class americans.
